The Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development and Cyber Protection Resources will host a Cyber Symposium on March 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center, 4535 Commerce St.

Tidewater Community College is a sponsor of the event, and Kimberly Perez, a professor of information technology at the college, is among several panelists speaking on cybersecurity in the region. Perez will be on an afternoon panel addressing cyber academic engagement with leaders from several institutions.

The agenda includes introductory remarks by Virginia Secretary of Technology Karen R. Jackson, U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner and Virginia Beach Mayor William D. Sessoms Jr.
