Take the next step by visiting TCC’s Open House on June 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Norfolk and Chesapeake Campuses. Registration is not required, but recommended and can be done by visiting here.

Visit our website for a complete listing of programs. There is plenty of time to enroll for fall classes, which begin on Aug. 21.

All are invited, especially:

2023 high school graduates and their families;
adults who want to start or finish a degree, learn a new field, or advance in their careers;
active-duty military and veterans, their spouses and dependents.

You will be able to apply to TCC; learn about financial aid, grants and scholarships; explore academic options; tour campuses; and learn about campus life at all locations.

If you have an eye on a four-year college, TCC can help get you there, too. Transfer agreements allow a student to complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree at TCC and gain guaranteed admission to most Virginia colleges and universities.

Join TCC for Open House on all campuses and the RAC, Aug. 7

Recent high school grad? Transitioning military? Looking for a promotion? Discover all that community college offers.

Tidewater Community College is opening its doors on all campuses for Open House on Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Prospective students and their families are invited to visit TCC’s campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach and the Regional Automotive Center in Chesapeake.

Advisors will be on hand to help students choose a pathway, apply for admission, get financial aid help and tour the campuses.

Whether you plan to take a full load or just one class, TCC offers a range of options to prepare you for the next step.

Students who are attending college for the first time or recent high school graduates are eligible to receive a free laptop when they enroll and pay for classes.

Tidewater Community College offers 150-plus programs ranging from engineering to the visual and culinary arts, to automotive, as well as cybersecurity and other options in computer science.

TCC is a great option for students looking to transfer to the four-year school of their dreams and want to get those general education requirements out of the way without accruing loads of student debt. Transitioning military and career changers can also learn more about program options.

Back to school with College Anywhere VA

Don’t put your future on hold.

Pursue a meaningful career or be transfer-ready for the four-year school of your choice. It’s now even easier to get started with a new tool from Virginia’s Community Colleges, CollegeAnywhereVA.org. Tidewater Community College is one of 23 community colleges in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).

College Anywhere VA is an online portal enabling Virginians to find online courses that best meet their needs. In addition to connecting students with high-quality and affordable remote-learning courses, the site connects current and prospective students with advisors, known as College Navigators, who streamline the application and course enrollment process.

Summer classes start May 18 and fall semester begins Aug. 24.

“Our students, especially our high school seniors, have lost so many experiences over the last couple months — no proms, no yearbook exchange, no graduation ceremonies. We owe it to them to provide them with the virtual door to their next educational step,” said Glenn Dubois, VCCS chancellor.

College Anywhere VA provides a transparent view into the 10,000+ online courses offered through Virginia’s community colleges. Depending on student goals, these courses could:

count toward an associate degree or certificate program;
count toward a degree or certificate program at another institution; or
include valuable workforce training programs that prepare students for career credentials.

Virginia’s Community Colleges, including TCC, have guaranteed transfer agreements with dozens of private and public institutions across the commonwealth. Tuition and fees are roughly one-third of the comparable costs at four-year universities.

Yes, fall classes started but you can still register through Aug. 26

Yikes! Fall classes started at Tidewater Community College, and you forgot to register.

No worries. There’s still time to enroll in 16-week classes that started on Aug. 19, but get moving! The deadline is Monday, Aug. 26.

Here’s how to get started. Apply to TCC. There is no application fee; just make sure you have an email address to verify your application.

Next, fill out the FAFSA for financial aid. If you haven’t done this yet, you’ll likely need an alternate form of payment upfront. If you qualify for financial aid, you will still be able to apply those funds to fall classes But because of the time crunch, you might have to pay and wait for reimbursement. In that case, consider signing up for TCC’s payment plan. You have until Thursday, Aug. 22 to sign up for the payment plan.

Remember to take your placement tests before meeting with an advisor. Make sure you have a picture ID when you visit the testing office at any of our campuses. You might be exempt from placement tests. Find out all you need to know here.

All that will be left is for you to sign up for classes with the help of one of our advisors and you’re on your way! Remember, if you start class late, you will still be responsible for all course material for the days you missed. It’s best to talk with your professor about any concerns.

If you still can’t make it work, don’t despair. TCC offers 12-week and eight-week class sessions and you’ve got time to sign up for those. Twelve-week classes begin on Sept. 16.

TCC’s second session of eight-week classes begins on Oct. 16.

Whether it’s 16-, 12- or eight-week classes, you still receive the same number of credits. The shorter sessions are just more condensed options.
