Then she discovered TCC’s Health Information Management (HIM) program, which combines the medical field with information technology.
In May she will graduate with her Associate of Applied Science in HIM. Ronan is a recent recipient of the Linda Kloss Honorary Endowed Scholarship, which recognizes those who illustrate leadership and vision and possess a dedication to lifelong learning.
The scholarship was awarded by the American Information Health Management Association’s foundation, which advances the HIM profession through research, scholarship and workforce development programs.
“Colleen’s dedication to her education and the TCC Health Information Management Program made her an outstanding recipient” said Amy Shay, the program’s director. “Colleen’s life exemplifies the concept of a lifelong learner, and TCC is most proud of her for receiving this esteemed award.”
A former Navy corpsman, Ronan worked with various medical registries and in insurance and human resources, all of which added to her interest in HIM. She will graduate in May.
“TCC is perfect for people like me,” said Ronan, whose daughter, Reilly is part of TCC’s dual enrollment program. “I love the flexibility of it. I did a lot of the online classes and found them just as challenging as the ones in person. TCC is not only a good place to start. It’s a great place to finish.”
